ishga – Men’s Organic Skincare

Located on the northwest coast of Scotland are hundreds of Islands called The Hebrides, these islands have some of the cleanest waters in the world. It’s this pure and natural seawater that inspired the skincare brand ishga, the name originating from the Gaelic word for water. Even though this water is used in all of their products the real star of the show is the seaweed.

Seaweed grows in abundance in the Hebrides and it has been used throughout the ages for its healing properties. It has been scientifically proven to contain natural antioxidants which are beneficial to the skin and have numerous anti-ageing properties. Ishga has recognised the effectiveness of this fantastic natural ingredient and harnesses this in every one of its products. Ishga skincare is also certified organic by the Soil Association which is one of the highest certification available.

Harvesting Seaweed in The Hebrides

I recently tried three products from ishga’s skincare range for Men; Marine Cream, Exfoliating Face Wash and the Beard and Shave Oil.

Exfoliating Face Wash

So many times I have purchased exfoliating face washes and have ended up disappointed because they are full of sharp grains which are harsh against my skin. This exfoliator has a more gentle approach with the use of Seaweed grains that delicately cleanse the skin without stripping it of all its moisture. Ishga has somehow managed to encapsulate Scotland in the fragrance of its products with a natural, relaxed and fresh scent. I love to breathe in and absorb the aromas of Bergamot, Sandalwood and Patchouli which immediately makes me feel uplifted. With the added ingredients of Jojoba Oil, Cocoa Butter and Vitamin E my skin feels hydrated, cleansed and radiant.

Marine Cream

The first thing that I immediately loved from this product was its rich yet mousse-like texture which sinks in beautifully to the skin leaving it hydrated and supple looking. Because of its natural ingredients, the fragrance of this cream is again very relaxing so I tend to use this product before going to bed. As well as the renowned seaweed extract this cream also contains Apricot Kernel Oil, Aloe Vera and Cucumber extract which are all very calming and great if you have sensitive skin like me.

Beard and Shave oil

I have used countless shaving oils that claim to stop irritation and give you that close shave, but sometimes they just don’t hit the mark and I always revert back to a foam. I don’t have a beard but shaving my stubble on a daily basis does cause the occasional sensitive red rash. Ishga’s soothing shave oil is again filled to the brim with all their usual highly effective ingredients but with the added softening effects of Jojoba Oil, Thistle Oil and Sweet Almond Oil. Softening the facial hairs allows for a much better shave, therefore, reducing the associated redness and irritation, So when using this oil the blade slides comfortable across my skin, forming a shield on my skin and protecting it from the harshness of the blades, leaving my skin feeling moisturised but most importantly with no irritation.

Men’s Beard & Shave Oil

Ishga has succeeded to combine natural and organic ingredients and make a luxurious range of men’s products that are highly effective and a pleasure to use and I highly recommend this range of skincare products.  For me, I often feel that men’s products sometimes lack that sense of luxury and attention to detail, so I was pleasantly surprised that this range harnessed these qualities in abundance. These products will definitely be a new addition to my skincare routine and I am looking forward to trying out more of this fantastic range.
