Atelier des Ors – New Memory Lane Collection

Atelier des Ors has always been a preferred brand of mine, captivating me with its stunning cut glass bottles and refined perfumes infused with 24k gold flakes. Established in 2015 by Jean-Philippe Clermont, Atelier des Ors is known for its poetic approach to perfumery, aiming to preserve the essence of French haute perfumerie. During a recent trip to Milan, I had the opportunity to preview two new additions to their esteemed collection. The sight of these new creations on the hotel rooftop, shimmering in the sun, filled me with anticipation, eager to experience them firsthand. Inspired by their new location in Grasse, the perfume capital, Atelier des Ors introduced the Memory Lane collection.

Villa Primrose, named after their new villa, is the first fragrance in this collection. Encased in a delicate pink bottle, the scent opens with a fresh, spicy blend, accented by a touch of juicy pear. The transition to the heart notes reveals the beautiful centifolia rose, a hallmark of the region, evoking images of rose fields bathed in sunlight. The floral sweetness evolves, reminiscent of rose petals dusted with icing sugar, balanced by a subtle leather note that adds a refined touch. I almost imagine someone has just delved their hand into a sack of centifolias whilst wearing supple butter-soft leather gloves. There are a lot of rose and leather combos out there that sadly just don’t do it for me but this has a unique underlying finesse that has me reaching for the bottle time and time again.

Blue Madeleine, on the other hand, captured my heart instantly when I first tried it in Milan. Beginning with a lively start like Villa Primrose, this fragrance introduces a warm cinnamon note that complements the fresh opening. The star of the composition is the indulgent black tea, creating a sensory journey that transports me back to the villa. The outside terrace is adorned with tables of patisseries, clinking of cutlery, and blue and white china filled with milk swirled rich smokey black tea, all against the backdrop of billowing roses. A summer breeze brings the nuances together, a gentle whirlwind of sweet and comforting notes that are utterly addictive. Layers of sweetness from praline and sandalwood blend harmoniously with the tea, creating a creamy, addictive scent that stands out as my favourite of the two.

Both fragrances exude a similar strength and sophistication that I adore and I’m sure lots of others will too.

The fragrances come in 100ml bottles but 2.5ml samples can be purchased so you can try before you buy at Atelier Des Ors.
