Glasgow is renowned to be the social capital of Scotland, located right in the centre and only a few minutes walk away from the train station is Native Glasgow. This is a unique aparthotel which provides the perfect base to explore this vibrant Scottish City. This contemporary range of 64 apartments are housed in a stunning Edwardian building, the former home of the Anchor Line Shipping Company headquarters.

With numerous apartments all over the UK, I was invited (pre-COVID) to stay in their Glasgow apartments and I was very keen to experience a stay and find out what makes Native so unique and special.

Not only does Native Glasgow impress you with its stunning facade, the Art Deco building continues to astonish inside with several original features which can be seen as you head to towards the reception area. There are numerous types of apartments to choose from including; a Studio, Premium Studio, One Bedroom, Open Plan One Bedroom, Premium One Bedroom, Penthouse Studio and Penthouse One Bedroom, all boasting a contemporary style and a slight nod to its nautical past. I was lucky enough to stay in one of their Penthouse One Bedroom apartments, located on the seventh floor of the building.
As you open the door to the penthouse apartment you are greeted with a spacious hallway which leads to the bedroom, bathroom, open plan lounge, kitchen and dining area. On entering the lounge, you get your first glimpse of how special this place is. Impressive floor to ceiling windows flood this living space with light and provide the most stunning views of nearby George Square and Glasgow City Centre.
The large space combines a modern well-equipped kitchen, small dining table and comfortable lounge area all decked out with the latest amenities and technology. You can truly take advantage of the views with your very own terrace which wraps around the whole apartment, I was lucky enough to step out and enjoy the view before the rainy Scottish weather arrived (we had a huge storm that night).
The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need to make your stay extra special, surprisingly even including a fridge freezer and washer dryer which would be excellent for guests staying over a longer period of time.

I especially appreciated the inclusion of products from local businesses such as coffee from Dear Green and a few special sweet treats from Tantrum Donuts.
A small hob and microwave oven is included but if you don’t fancy cooking, make sure to take advantage of their very own restaurants; The Anchor Line and The Atlantic Bar and Brasserie. Of course, being in the centre of town you are surrounded by an abundance of bars and restaurants so you will definitely not be short for choice.

The bedroom has an extremely comfortable double bed embellished with decorative cushions and throws, backed by a tan leather headboard and surrounded by stylish brass accessories.

There is a small TV, plenty of wardrobe space for your clothes and luggage, an iron/iron board and hairdryer which was very convenient. I had a very relaxing nights sleep, what surprised me was how quiet it was considering the location and the size of the windows. Again the bedroom takes in those fantastic views and has its own access to the terrace. It was great to wake up in the morning looking over the rooftops of the city.

The separate bathroom is spotlessly clean, spacious, modern and includes luxury toiletries and fresh fluffy towels. The walk-in shower backed by forest green tiles was spacious and helped take that relaxation to the next level.

Whether you’re looking for a long or short stay, I think Native Glasgow is the ideal place for both business and leisure. Its location couldn’t be better as it is perfectly placed to enjoy everything the city has to offer without the associated noise that you can often encounter in a city centre accommodation.

With weekly housekeeping, an optional breakfast available and all the amenities you can experience a combination of both the hotel and apartment experience. When I come back to Glasgow to stay I wouldn’t think twice about booking this accommodation as it has everything I required for a comfortable, luxurious and affordable stay.
