Summer Skin At Home with Boots

I have been obsessed with skincare for several years. Ever since I was a teenager and trust me that was a long time ago, I have known the importance of a good skincare routine. I used to sneak into my Granny’s room and rummage through her dressing cabinet to find her treasure trove of creams and potions. Fast forward nearly twenty years and it is fair to say that I have tried my fair amount of skincare products. Throughout the years, I tend to switch-up my skincare routine depending on the season. As summer has arrived, it’s even more important to whip out the SPF and all the other products that help obtain that optimum summer skin health. There is always one place I can count on finding the best skincare products and that is the well-known health and beauty retailer and pharmacy chain, Boots. They have been a godsend throughout these uncertain times, allowing me to find the best skincare products online through lockdown.

Summer Skincare Saviours from Boots

I thought I would share with you my summer skincare routine using my favourite summer skincare products from our much loved high street chain.

CleanserYour Good Skin Nourishing Hot Cloth Cleanser

I like to start and finish the day with a good cleanser. As I am prone to dry skin, I always look for a product that is comforting, nourishing and moisturising. In the summer I find it important to use a high-quality cleanser as this not only prepares my skin for the application of products but also completely removes the SPF in the evening (and that can be a stubborn feat). The combination of sweating skin and SPF can sometimes block my pores and cause the occasional blemish, so a good cleanser is paramount.

Your Good Skin – Nourishing Hot Cloth Cleanser

Over the years, I have used quite a few products from the Your Good Skin brand and find them very effective. The Skin Nourishing Hot Cloth Cleanser is no different and its inclusion of a cloth is not only great value for money but also helps give a more powerful cleanse. I start the day by massaging this onto my dry skin and I immediately notice its luxuriously creamy texture. I then soak the cloth in warm water and gently remove the product from the face. My skin always feels so supple and comforted without the drying effect that some cleansers can have.

Serums Revolution 12.5% Vitamin C

There are countless serums on the market and I always opt a Vitamin C serum in the summer. As I have aged, I have found that my skin has become slightly dull. Therefore I find Vitamin C products really helpful in facilitating that radiance. Most importantly it is a great antioxidant which is especially helpful when exposing my skin to those extra sun rays. Not only is it adding that extra glow, it also helps protect the skin against damage.

Revolution Skincare London – 12.5% Vitamin C Serum

Revolutions 12.5% Vitamin C is a high strength serum which is perfect for me. I have been using this for a while but if you haven’t there is a gentler version also available at boots. I always apply Vitamin C products directly after I cleanse and due to its thick texture, I wait a while before I apply further products to allow it to sink properly into the skin.

Hyaluronic AcidThe Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2%  + B5

My summer skin always needs an extra boost of hydration and I find the addition of Hyaluronic Acid a godsend during this season. I use The Ordinary’s Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5. The Ordinary provide a great range of products that are effective yet a highly affordable.

Just a few drops of this product applied to my face before applying others helps to plump up the skin and inject some energy into my complexion.

Facial MistElizabeth Arden Eight Hour Miracle Hydrating Mist

My skin sometimes feels dehydrated, therefore, not only do I like to use a facial mist in my morning routine, it’s also great product to use throughout the day to provide constant hydration. This mist has been a staple item in my toiletry bag due to its highly moisturising ingredients and it is full of antioxidants and vitamins.

Elizabeth Arden – Eight Hour Miracle Hydrating Mist

I carry this with me all day so if I am in the office or out and about I can give my face a quick spray when needed. It is also really great for cooling you down in the summer heat.

Facial OilPixi Jasmine Oil Blend

To seal in products and to keep my skin supple all day I incorporate a skin-oil into my routine. Pixi has a great range of oils relating to different skin types and I especially love their Jasmine Oil Blend.

Pixi Skintreats – Jasmine Oil Blend

Not only does it smell divine, it is packed full of skin loving ingredients, especially if you veer towards dry skin like I do. I personally like this as its texture is easily absorbed and leaves the skin with an instant subtle glow.

MoisturiserCurél Intensive Moisture Facial Cream

I have been fascinated with this Japanese brand all through lockdown and I find their Curél Intensive Moisture Facial Cream excellent. Boots is one of the only places in the UK to purchase, so I always make sure I top up my stash, especially when the 3 for 2 offers are on.

Curél – Intensive Moisture Facial Cream

This product is perfect for the summer as it’s deeply hydrating and has a lovely light texture that melts into the skin without leaving too much shine and stickiness. As soon as I have applied this onto my skin it felt as if my skin almost came alive.

SPFBioederma Photoderm MAX Aquafluide SPF 50

The most important step in summer is wearing a really good broad-spectrum SPF. Even on a cloudy day those harmful rays can still sneak their way through and damage the skin. I especially love Bioderma’s Photoderm MAX Aquafluide for a number of reasons.

Bioderma – Photoderm MAX Aquafluide SPF 50+

Firstly its texture allows it to sit on the skin without feeling heavy or greasy and it leaves a beautiful matt finish. Secondly, it doesn’t leave the skin chalky or ashy. Thirdly, it has a high SPF 50 giving me the confidence to be out in the sun knowing that I have the best protection on my skin.
